About
For as long as I can remember music has always been a part of my life. I have always been in awe at how music can evoke emotions, has the power to transport us to different worlds and acts as a source of inspiration and a source of comfort.
Growing up I had absolutely zero musical talent, could not play any musical instruments and certainly could not sing (I was asked to mime in a school play). That meant I had no chance of ever being in a band, so I was drawn to the media side of music. I have been hugely influenced by John Peel, Steve Lamacq and of course I bought a weekly copy of the NME and longed to write for this wonderful magazine. I never got that far, but I was able to write for A Musical Priority (AMP) magazine with a great friend of mine. You will be forgiven if you haven't heard of AMP but it really did mean so much to us and was a lot of fun.
Due to other commitments AMP magazine could no longer sustain the standard we set ourselves and had to let it go. I am now writing on a purely voluntary basis for Applestump Records, I do not get paid for what I write (I never have), I simply write for the love of music, and am more than happy to share my writing with this fantastic independent record store.
Hope you have time to read some of what I write. I will never write any negative comments, I will only write about things I love. I have always thought just because I don't like something it doesn't mean that someone else won't. Every piece of music has been written with a lot of care and attention so who am I to say it is not any good. I will always be inspired by music and hold firm to the John Peel belief that the greatest record ever made may yet to be made.
That's enough about me for now, thank you for taking time out of your day to read my words.
