This album showcases the Chameleons’ electrifying gig at Manchester’s iconic Haçienda, on 28 January 1983.
This release captures the band performing to a packed Haçienda just a few months before they released their debut album, with the setlist drawing heavily from that landmark release.
Featured here, are early fan favourites such as Don’t Fall, Second Skin, Pleasure and Pain and Paper Tigers, alongside cuts that never saw a studio release and were only played live, such as Men of Steel and Years Ago, making for a deep dive into one of the key bands of post-punk history.
Known for their atmospheric, guitar-based sound, the Chameleons are regarded as one of the most underrated Manchester bands of the 1980s. They did not attain the commercial success of other groups from the Manchester scene, such as the Stone Roses, Joy Division and the Smiths, but developed a cult following.
For fans of post-punk and the vibrant Manchester music scene of the 80s, this live recording is an essential listen.
