Lonely Deckchair is the debut album from Lonely Deckchair, inspired by a return to Aguadulce on Spain’s southern coast, where the artist spent childhood summers with his family. This time he went back as an adult with his own children, tried not to get too sentimental about the whole thing, then made a full album because clearly that plan went well.
 
The result is a warm, personal and quietly moving record that drifts between Balearic inspired textures, ambient reflection, soft electronics, field recordings, gentle rhythm and little melodic moments that feel like old holiday photos found in a drawer.
 
There are reversed guitars, warm synths, percussion, sea air, childhood memories, family chatter, long drives and that slightly strange feeling of returning somewhere that has somehow stayed the same while you definitely haven’t.
 
Musically, it should land with listeners into the more reflective side of Balearic, ambient, leftfield, downtempo, coastal electronics and home-listening records that still have enough movement to make sense in the right DJ set.
