Jamaican jazz saxophonist, flautist and vocalist Harold McNair released his masterpiece The Fence in 1970, blending elements of British blues and jazz-funk. Supported by the Pentangle rhythm section - Terry Cox on drums and Danny Thompson on double bass - alongside Keith Tippett on keyboards, the album was an experiment truly ahead of its time.
