The long awaited follow up to ‘Los Rayos Del Sol’ (2021) and ‘Los Rayos In Dub' (2022) is a George Solar six track mini album titled ‘Moonbeams’ and this is both the title track and the lead single as a precursor and will be released on May 17th with the album following in June.
Just like the other album appetiser ‘Countermoon’, which just dropped in an exclusive version on Blank & Jones MILCHBAR 16 compilation, this one takes us right into the night - but on the other end of it. A mystical song about the moon as well of course - and about the power of love in all its forms & shapes.
Driven by a deep, languid & sub bass powered slo mo beat, this almost ambient dub like tune features a string of very special guests:
Washington DC based love poet JEN, with whom George collaborated on her ‘Mellow Dramas’ album (Stereo Deluxe) as a musical director & executive producer back in 2008
Razoof, drummer of the band, Solar Moon that George has been a part of for three decades, hailing from Germany & now dividing his time between Formentera and Kampala,Uganda.
And last but not least Ken Fan, resident DJ of Ibiza’s one and only Cafe Del Mar, good friend & co-writer / co-producer on four of six tracks on George’s ‘Moonbeams’ album.
Just like that, we have the first ever George Solar track with vocals. Very special ones, that is. JEN’s poetry is, as per usual, a brief yet heartfelt, rather personal tribute to the power of love shining down on us like moonbeams, even in the darkest night.
Let love rule! That’s the message.
Meanwhile, both Razoof and of course Ken Fan added their bits of magic potion to a sound that the artist himself calls 'George Solar 3.0'. Back to the roots, future bound.
